How to block IP address in Google Ads: the steps

To block an IP address in Google Ads, open a campaign's Settings, choose Additional settings, open IP exclusions, enter the addresses and save. An IP exclusion is a setting that tells the ad network not to show your ads to a given IP address. These steps come from Fraud Blocker's guide and help center, read on October 24, 2026.

  1. Select Campaigns in the left menu, then Campaigns again in the second menu.
  2. Pick the campaign. Settings only appears once a campaign is selected.
  3. Select Settings, then Additional settings at the bottom of the page.
  4. Open IP exclusions, enter the addresses you want to exclude, and press Save.

Which campaign types accept IP exclusions

Per Fraud Blocker's guide, Search, Display and Standard Shopping campaigns allow IP exclusions. Performance Max, Demand Gen, Smart Shopping, Hotel, Video (YouTube) and Mobile App campaigns do not.

Fraud Blocker's IP-exclusion guide says account-level exclusions reach Performance Max, Demand Gen and YouTube, while its newer Performance Max article names only Performance Max.

An account-level list covers the whole account. Fraud Blocker puts it under Admin, then Account Settings, and Google's developer documentation lists IP block as a criterion at campaign and customer (account) level.

Take a store that runs Standard Shopping and Performance Max campaigns. It can exclude addresses by hand in a Standard Shopping campaign, but Performance Max takes none at campaign level, per Fraud Blocker's Performance Max article, so only the account-level list reaches it.

Fraud Blocker's help center lists Performance Max, Demand Gen, Hotel and Video among the types it supports, so its two lists differ; Fraud Blocker Google Ads has the detail.

Finding the IP addresses to block

Most analytics platforms, including Google Analytics, do not show visitors' IP addresses, per Fraud Blocker's guide. Capturing them usually takes a developer and can be technically difficult. Google's own investigation request asks for IP addresses that produce repetitive clicks or clicks without conversions, plus web server logs, so one list serves both.

Fraud Blocker, ClickCease and ClickGuard each state a limit of 500 excluded addresses, and Fraud Blocker and ClickGuard put it per campaign. Reserve a manual list for repeat offenders.

IP addresses you should not block

Google says network address translation lets hundreds or thousands of devices share one public IP address, as in an office, a university or a mobile network, so blocking it can turn away real customers. Fraud Blocker also warns that excluding a competitor's address may block a loyal customer.

Fraud Blocker's Block/Allow List, a dashboard list that keeps chosen addresses from being blocked, is there so your office IP never is.

When to automate the IP list

Fraud Blocker captures visitors' IP addresses with its own pixel and adds the bad ones to your campaign and account-level exclusion lists, on every plan from Standard at $79 a month on monthly billing, as read on October 24, 2026. It passes them to Google Ads in near real time. A block lasts 30 days, or 7 for accidental clicks.

It fills all 500 slots in a campaign's list, so a manual list has to be copied into its IP Blacklists in the dashboard. A 7-day free trial comes before the first Fraud Blocker charge, on Standard or Pro alike. The terms call it usually 7 days, then charge the chosen plan automatically unless you cancel first.
